Tarzana

Tarzana falls in the suburbs of San Fernando Valley in the City of Los Angeles, California. It is on the site that used to be a ranch and the property of author Edgar Rice Burroughs. The name suggests its connection with the fictional character, a jungle hero Tarzan created by Burroughs.

In 1797, the Spanish settlers and missionaries created this place. When it came under U.S rule, several cattle ranchos took over the neighborhood. The Los Angeles Suburban Homes Company in 1909 purchased the areas, with LA Time's founder being the co-investor.

In February 1919, the author of the famous Tarzan novel visited the area and found it favorable for him. So, in March of the same year, he bought Otis's tract and established Tarzana Ranch. He later subdivided the and sold it for residential development.

This neighborhood is linked with Topanga State Park, Encino, Reseda, and Woodland Hills on the south, east, north, and west hemispheres, respectively. Lindley Avenue is on the eastern side of the town, while Victory Boulevard is on the northern edge. Corbin Avenue and Oakdale Avenue fall on the western side, and Topanga State Park comes on the south.

The climate is primarily a hot-summer Mediterranean climate.

The U.S census of 2000 recorded 35,502 residents in the area, while in 2008, population density increased up to 37,778. Tarzana might not represent diversity in ethnicity, with about 70% of residents being white. Tiny population percentage comprises blacks and Asians.

Based on the census, about 40.3% of the population has earned a four-year degree in education by 25 or older.

Moreover, there are seven public schools in Tarzana, three zoned high schools, and just one private education institution.

The Tarzana Recreation Center and Caballero Canyon are two areas of attraction offering numerous activities.
