Sherman Oaks

Sherman Oaks was founded in 1927 as a San Fernando Valley community in Los Angeles, California. General Moses Hazeltine Sherman built this town from the ground up on 1000 acres of land.

This city attaches its boundaries with Studio City, Van Nuys, Encino, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills Post Office. According to the 2010 state census, this city maintains the lowest population ratio compared to its neighboring towns.

The resident count significantly dropped in 2010. The number of total residents calculated in 2000 was 61,166, which in ten years from 2000 to 2010 decreased to 52,677. Ethnically, this city does not explicitly adhere to diversity. More than 80% of the population consists of non-Hispanic whites. Other ethnicities include African Americans, Asians, and Latinos.

The Los Angeles Fire Department operates and manages various stations at Sherman Oaks, while the Los Angeles Police Department looks after the nearby police station at Van Nuys. The city contains three private schools, while it has seven LAUSD schools within the boundaries. It also has two charter schools and some portions with schools in Van Nuys and Valley Glen.

The public library got its name from Martin Pollard in 1970 as Sherman Oaks Martin Pollard Branch, which the Los Angeles Public Library operates.

The city is proud to have The Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park, famous as the best family gathering park by Los Angeles Times. The park consists of many recreational activities and areas such as a basketball court, baseball courts, football field, indoor gymnasium, children’s play area, and a 60-person community center.

Apart from that, The Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Senior Citizen Center, also called Bernardi Center, has an auditorium and multi-purpose room. The city also entertains the Sherman Oaks Castle Park with a miniature golf facility, including a batting cage and arcade.
